About Melanie B. Brewer, Ph.D.

Melanie has a B.A. in Physics from Reed College, Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UCLA and a Master's in Human Factors in Information Design from the McCallum School of Business at Bentley University in Boston.

She brings a unique combination of business acumen, qualitative research skillset and subject matter expertise in healthcare, life sciences and biomedical research.

After a successful career as a Ph.D. research scientist at UCLA and Caltech, with experience in web design and development since the inception of the world wide web, Melanie moved into program management at UCSF.  Her work there included development of a data visualization web application for hundreds of thousands of protein interactions distributed across the globe (gpsprot.org).  To bring together her passion for life sciences, communications and user experience (UX) research and design, she graduated with a Master's degree in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University, a #1 ranked Academic UX program.

SB Human Factors works on UX, CX and marketing research and strategy projects for clients that include NYSE-traded companies, startups, academic institutions and agencies.

In addition to Melanie's background in life sciences and biomedical research, she has more than 15 years experience in clinical medical practice management, giving her unique insight into the healthcare landscape.

View Melanie's published research on human disease, 3D domain swapping and data visualization, which has appeared in high impact journals, has been cited over 5,500 times and continues to be widely read and referenced.
